FARMINGTON, N.M. (KRQE) - Farmington police say a driver may have been high on drugs when he hit and killed a woman on a city street Wednesday.
Police reported the victim was picking something up off the pavement near Main Street and Court Avenue when Joe Gallegos ran over her.
The 32-year-old woman was pinned beneath his SUV and killed.
Her name has not been released.
Gallegos, 43, was arrested at a nearby trailer park after running away from the crash scene.
