ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - An emotional plea from a 13-year-old boy asking a hit-and-run driver to turn himself in didn't work.
Now authorities are reaching out for help from the public.
DeAndre Garcia, who was riding his bike, says the driver of a white Pontiac Grand Am deliberately ran him down near Fourth Street NW and El Pueblo Road on Oct. 23.
Investigators have no idea who that driver is.
Garcia spoke with KRQE News 13 the day after he was hit pleading for that person to come forward.
"If the guy even has any heart, he can turn himself in," Garcia said in his hospital room. "He just hit me and took off"
So far there is no word from that driver.
Bernalillo County deputies say the car had dark tinted windows and should have a damaged or missing passenger side mirror.
Anyone with information on the collision or the driver can contact the sheriff's department at (505) 468-7539.
