ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - The woman killed in a wrong-way collision with an ambulance had marijuana and three times the legal limit for alcohol in her system, medical investigators report.
Kylene Holmes's blood-alcohol level was 0.26 when she slammed head-on into an ambulance on Interstate 25 in Santa Fe on Dec. 14, according to the Office of the Medical Investigator. Holmes died at the scene, her passenger suffered serious injuries.
Ambulance driver Vanessa Carrillo, 19, was for a time in critical condition with two crushed legs and other injuries.
The legal limit for presumed intoxication under state law is a blood-alcohol level of 0.8.
Police reported Holmes was traveling southbound in the northbound lanes of I-25 at 100 mph when she hit the ambulance near the Cerrillos Road exit.
