ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - The driver charged with fatally injuring a Farmington pedestrian Wednesday is the same man who killed an Albuquerque Public Schools superintendent in a crash near Moriarty in 2003.
Farmington police allege Joe Gallegos, 43, ran over a woman who had stopped to pick up something in a street on Tuesday.
Investigators also suspect he was high on drugs.
Gallegos was convicted of driving drunk in 2003 when he flipped a car carrying as passengers his half-brother Manuel Ruiz and APS Superintendent Joe Vigil.
Vigil and Ruiz were killed.
Gallegos initially claimed that one of the other men was driving but later admitted it was him.
Gallegos was sentenced to 7 years in prison for the crash.
