PORTALES, N.M. (KRQE) - In order to save money and curb speeding, Roosevelt County has a dummy on its team.
An actual dummy has been sitting in a parked car at various locations around the county for the past four years.
Chief Deputy Sheriff Malin Parker says some people will request a deputy to watch their neighborhoods for speeders.
Parker says sometimes it's the dummy, but sometimes it's not.
He says although it hasn't solved the speeding problem it has helped.
