ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Officials say a charred body found Thursday at a park was so badly burned they are having a hard time determining if it's male or female but do know it's an adult.
Police say a woman walking by the West Bluff Park near Coors and Interstate 40 around 6:30 p.m. Thursday found the body.
Investigators believe the murder didn't happen in the park, but say the body was likely left there shortly before it was found.
“Based upon the fact that kids do frequent the park, it doesn't appear that it had been there that long otherwise we'd have gotten a call a lot quicker if kids had been there and discovered it.” said Officer Robert Gibbs with the Albuquerque Police Department.
Officials are hoping dental records will help them identify the body.
