ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - The Albuquerque father accused of killing his 4-year-old daughter had his first court appearance Wednesday.
Anthony Chavez and his new wife Gayla Hernandez are accused of killing the little girl late Saturday night in their home.
Hernandez called 911 saying she found the girl barely breathing.
Deputies say the couple had many excuses as to why the girl was covered in scratches and bruises but none added up.
The judge set Chavez’s bond at $500,000 cash only Wednesday, the same bond was set for Hernandez.
Both are facing a charge of child abuse resulting in death.
