ALBUQUERQUE, NM (KRQE) - An Albuquerque neighborhood is looking for the missing pieces of a sculpture the city put in Snowheights Park a few years ago to help revitalize the park.

It used to be a mama bear and her cubs, but the cubs are gone and mama's not doing well, either.   One cub was attached to the mama bear's right arm and the other was holding onto her left arm.

Months after the sculpture was installed, the cubs were stolen. The vandals even took a whack at mama bear, cutting off the tops of her ears.

"They barely made that park and people are just destroying it," said Cameron Naranjo, who was enjoying a day at the park.

The neighborhood association filed a police report and tried to get their bears back, but the city said the sculpture was not insured and probably would not be replaced.

Residents are keeping their eyes peeled for the missing cubs.

"I'm sure they're in somebody's backyard somewhere, and they should bring them back where they belong," Naranjo said.
