ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Well known NM boxer Johnny Tapia has been taken into custody by the New Mexico Department of Corrections.
Johnny Tapia had permission from his probation and parole officer in Las Cruces to go to Albuquerque, according to corrections spokesperson Tia Bland.
However Bland said Tapia did not have permission to go to Red River.
Bland went on to say that Tapia was in a Red River bar and was involved in some type of verbal confrontation, both violate the terms of his parole.
Tapia will now have to go before the judge who placed him on probation, according to Bland.
