Juvenile escapee sought

SPRINGER, N.M. (KRQE) - State police are searching for an Artesia man who they said escaped from a juvenile detention facility in Springer, N.M., on Sunday evening.

Anthony A. Herrera, 18, was convicted of attempting to kill a 17-year-old at an underage party in Artesia in 2006.

He's described as a Hispanic male, 5 feet 5 inches tall and 110 pounds. He has black hair in a short buzz cut and hazel eyes. There is a tattoo reading "575" on his left middle finger.

He was last seen wearing a gray polo shirt and jeans.

Anybody with information is asked to call 911 or New Mexico State Police at 575-445-5571.
