PREWITT, N.M. (KRQE) - New Mexico State Police arrested a suspected drunken driver in one of two deadly accidents involving highway workers Thursday afternoon.
Vivian Williams, 48, was directing traffic at a project on Interstate 40 near Prewitt when Milroy Vandever, 37, of Gallup hit and killed her, according to police
He's charged with vehicular homicide and DWI.
Earlier Steve Vigil, 38, of Roswell was spreading gravel on State Road 224 near Melrose when the machine he was using ran over him.
Just two other DOT workers have died in New Mexico construction zones since 2000.
