LOS LUNAS, N.M. (KRQE) - Sandra Sanchez's ex-boyfriend Joe Easley, who's a person of interest in her murder, was ready to surrender to Los Lunas Police Monday, but that's because he thought there was a warrant for his arrest. There wasn't.
Sanchez went missing April 3 in Los Lunas, N.M., and on Sunday her body was found in a culvert near Socorro, N.M.
Police have executed two search warrants on Easley's home, and seized his truck last week.
Just before he turned himself in, Easley's attorney Patrick Martinez gave this statement.
"Mr. Easley has spoken to the police for over six hours and the statements he said we stick by those statements. And he would cooperate with the investigation and he has," Martinez said.
Martinez said the warrant for Easley on Monday was to obtain DNA, not for his arrest.
