LA CUEVA, N.M. (KRQE) - State police on Wednesday will begin an intensive three-day search for any campsites belonging to Joseph Burgess, a man who shot and killed a Sandoval County Sheriff's Department sergeant before being killed himself.

Burgess, known as the Cookie Bandit, broke into residents' cabins in the La Cueva area of the Jemez Mountains.

Police said the gun he used to shoot and kill Sgt. Joe Harris was registered to a man who went missing in the summer of 2006.
