GALLUP, N.M. (KRQE) - Deputies in McKinley County have identified the top portion of a body found in trash bag via fingerprinting.
On Monday around 5:30 p.m. kids playing with a dog north of Gallup found a trash bag containing the upper portion of a body.
According to deputies, the unclothed torso showed multiple stab wounds plus cuts to the face.
Then on Thursday around 8:20 a.m. three people in the mesa found a garbage bag with the clothed bottom half of a body. There was an ID in the pants of the body.
Deputies told KRQE News 13 the two discoveries were about 100 yards apart.
The top half has been identified as Frank Yazzie from Mentmore, N.M., a small town outside Gallup.
Yazzie does match the ID found in the pants of the bottom half of the body, but the McKinley County Sheriff's department cannot positively connect the bottom half to the top half until DNA results come back.
The McKinley County Sheriff's department is asking for the public's help. If you have seen Yazzie within the last couple of months, call the department's Crimestoppers number at 505-722-6161.
