DEMING, N.M. (KRQE) - A Deming city police officer is under investigation after New Mexico State Police received a report of a July 5 domestic violence incident.
State Police officers were asked to investigate the incident on July 8 after the victim came forward, Department of Public Safety spokesman Peter Olson said in a statement.
According to police the victim was scared to come forward explaining the three days between the incident and the beginning of the State Police investigation.
Officers have interviewed the alleged victim and are processing further evidence in this case.
No names have been released because of the ongoing criminal investigation.
No one has been arrested at this time and the Deming Police Department is conducting an administrative investigation into this incident.
