Uncle of Baby Brianna could move jails

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - The New Mexico Corrections Department said it is making arrangements to move the uncle of baby Brianna to a prison out of state.

Steven Lopez was convicted of beating, raping and killing his 5-month-old niece Brianna Lopez.

The corrections department said the nature of Lopez's charges have placed his life in danger, so they are working with other prisons to move him.

Brianna's father, who was convicted of the same crimes, was moved out of state last week.

A corrections spokesman said Brianna's mother who was also convicted in her death will not be moved.
