ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Four Valencia County teens are in jail, after police said they severely beat a man, stole his car, ran him over and fled from authorities.

Deputies said around 1:00 a.m. Sunday, they were called out to a house in Rio Communities.

A woman told deputies that four teens were pounding on her door and asking for her husband.

Her husband went outside and the teens severely beat him with beer bottles and possibly ax handles, according to deputies.

Valencia County Sheriff's Deputy Chris Trujillo said the man was run over when he tried to stop.

The victim was identified late Sunday as Celso Molina. At last check, he was in critical condition.

Deputies eventually spotted the stolen truck. A spike strip at the Manzano Expressway and Las Maravillas blew out the truck's front two tires, but the suspects kept going.

The suspects were eventually arrested after a crash at Meadowlake Road with a deputy's unit.

The teens hit the unit at 55 mph while the deputy prepared to lay down a spike strip, according to the sheriff's department.

The teens escaped the crash without major injuries.

The sheriff's deputy was treated for minor injuries, but is said to be OK.

The teen suspects range between 14-years-old and 16-years-old. They were taken to the Youth Diagnostic and Development Center in Albuquerque.
