ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - SWAT teams have taken wanted man Mario Mauricio into custody without incident, according to the Albuquerque Police Department.
Mauricio, 24, barricaded himself inside the Marriott Courtyard Hotel Friday afternoon.
Hotel guests were stuck in their rooms for most of the day as the SWAT team went door to door, tracking down one of the state's most wanted men.
Police caught up with Mauricio moments after he jumped from balcony.
The hotel was only about a third full for the Fourth of July weekend.
Two of the guests included Mauricio and his girlfriend. Police said Mauricio and the woman argued over the Smith and Wesson handgun he carried.
She called police Friday morning, and the SWAT team was dispatched because of the weapon and Mauricio's violent past.
After surrounding the hotel, cops executed a room to room search and spotted the man on a third floor balcony.
"At which time he jumped down to the first floor and ran literally into the arms of awaiting SWAT team officers. A surprise on his behalf, but in custody, without incident," Albuquerque Police Spokesman John Walsh said.
This is not the first time Mauricio has been in the news. Last month, Bernalillo County District Attorney Kari Brandenburg named him and another man accused of domestic violence her fugitives of the month.
Mauricio was also wanted on child abuse and kidnapping charges.
