ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - The last of the suspects from the crime team responsible for stealing thousands of dollars in retail goods will go to trial.

The bandits were allegedly responsible for a burglary spree spanning more than 50 local stores.

The 16-year-old mastermind of the burglary ring has already served a one year sentence, and now it's Soloman Pena's, 25, time to face the court.

During the crime spree, the crime team allegedly used stolen cars to smash into big box stores in Albuquerque.

Once inside, they are said to have taken thousands of dollars worth of merchandise.

The burglary ring was run by local skateboarding legend Nick Jojola, 16. Jojola served his time after agreeing to a plea deal.

Only Pena suspect did not agree to a plea deal. His trial will begin Monday.

Pena, who was described as Jojola's second in command, faces a long list of charges.

"I think Soloman is definitely involved, heavily involved in it, I think him and Nick Jojola were probably the main ones," Albuquerque Police Department Det. Chris Baca said.

Retailers target by the group said that they hope the judge comes down hard on Pena.

The main reason Jojola only served one year in juvenile lockup was his status as a minor. Pena won't be able to make the same claim as he is 25.
