ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Friends of an Albuquerque Public School teacher facing rape charges over her relationship with a 13-year-old student were divided in their emotions Thursday with some offering messages of support and others expressing disgust.
Kristy Sanchez-Trujillo, 33, was charged with three counts of rape after she allegedly admitted to police she had sex with the boy in her car in or near Petroglyph National Monument on Albuquerque's West Side.
A criminal complaint paints a picture of just how far the teacher went with her student. It states she admitted to police that she took the boy to the movies last weekend and then drove to the petroglyphs.
They had sex in her car then and again on Tuesday night.
She told investigators she was not sure the two had had full intercourse since he is "a young boy," according to the complaint.
Sanchez-Trujillo says she repeatedly asked the student if this is what he wanted.
The complaint quotes Sanchez-Trujillo as saying the student was the best she has ever had calling him a 25-year-old stuck in a 13-year-old's body.
No one came to Sanchez-Trujillo's door Thursday when KRQE News 13 knocked although someone inside yelled, "She is not here".
A neighbor who didn't want to be interviewed on camera described Sanchez-Trujillo was nice.
Her Facebook page has comments from her friends showing their love and support.
"Innocent till proven guilty," one friend posted.
News 13 contacted one of her Facebook friends who is also a teacher.
The friend said she "doesn't know her anymore, clearly," and that she is disappointed and angered.
Comments on KRQE.com from writers claiming to be Sanchez-Trujillo's former students said they can't believe the allegations are true.
One wrote she hasn't stopped crying since she heard about the charges.
"Everything will be OK," another wrote.
Sanchez-Trujillo was a teacher at Jimmy Carter Middle School in northwest Albuquerque and taught a hip-hop dance class after school.
Detectives said they don't think she was sexually involved with any other kids.
