ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - An Albuquerque mom, whose 14-month-old baby was found with severe burns on her buttocks and genitals, appeared before a judge Saturday on charges of child abuse.
Sherie Sanchez, 27, was arrested Friday almost six months after her 1-year-old daughter was treated at University of New Mexico Hospital for her injuries.
It's unclear what exactly happened or how the child was burned.
Police said it happened after Sanchez unexpectedly took the child from a caretaker's home back in May.
She has been charged with child abuse resulting in great bodily harm. Her bond has been set at $150,000.
