ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - A motorcyclist in his 60s was killed Friday morning when he was apparently rear-ended by a van and thrown from his bike.

Around 10 a.m. Friday, according to police, the motorcyclist was traveling south on Coors Boulevard when he stopped at a red light at Sevilla Avenue NW, where the van rear-ended him.

According to police, the motorcyclist was not wearing a helmet.

Police said they don't believe alcohol or speed were factors.

The victim's name has not been released while officers work to notify his family. Investigators will forward the case to the district attorney for an investigation.
