LOS LUNAS, N.M. (KRQE) - A District Court judge has sentenced a Jarales man to five years probation for the death of his brother.
Fidel Silva, 28 pleaded no contest in September to vehicular homicide.
In August 2008 Silva and his brother, Jacob Silva, 30, and a woman had stopped at a Belen gas station to fill up, police reported. As they were leaving the Silvas got into an argument.
Police said Fidel struck his brother with his truck killing him.
District Judge John Pope sentenced Silva last Wednesday to six years but suspended that sentence and imposed probation.
Silva was also originally charged with DWI. That was dropped as part of a plea agreement.
