ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - A former airman who killed two people while driving drunk was sentenced to prison Friday.

Judge Kenneth Martinez sentenced Micah Henry to 12 years but suspended four because Henry has repeatedly accepted responsibility. In January he pleaded guilty to two counts of vehicular homicide.

Henry was stationed at Kirtland Air Force Base when he blew through a stoplight at high speed early on New Year's Day 2008 and struck a pickup truck broadside.

The collision at 4th Street and Menaul Boulevard NW killed both people in the truck, Josephine Laweka, 47, of Cochiti Pueblo and Marvin Garcia, 44, of Santa Fe.

Witnesses told police Henry was traveling at 80-100 mph on 4th Street before the crash. His blood-alcohol level was found to be twice the state legal limit for presumed intoxication, according to investigators.
