ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - A man found beaten in a southeast Albuquerque neighborhood is in critical condition at University of New Mexico Hospital.
The man was found at 3:00 a.m. Monday near Zuni and Ortiz.
Roads between San Mateo and Palomas have been blocked off by crime tape while investigators scour the area for evidence.
Police know very few details because the victim is unconscious at the hospital, so they have not been able to interview him.
They don't know his name, but authorities said the man is Hispanic and is between 20 and 30 years old.
He's suffering from severe head and chest injuries. Police don't know how he was attacked.
The crime scene stretches from the parking lot of the apartment complex where the man was found to parking lot of a nearby shopping center.
The scene is so large because the man wandered around the area after the beating.
"It could run the gamut of many possibilities, whether it be involving an illegal act, or whether it be involving any of the drug trade, or any other type of incident, we do not know at this point," Albuquerque Police Department Spokesperson John Walsh said.
Police said the beating is not related to any other crimes.
So far, no witnesses have come forward and there are no suspects. If you have any information about the case, call 242-COPS.
