Attorney found guilty of aggravated DWI

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - A DWI attorney on Thursday was found guilty of aggravated DWI and driving on an expired license.
Jurors returned the verdict against John Wayne Higgins after about an hour of deliberation Thursday afternoon.
Higgins was accused of driving drunk, getting into an accident and acting belligerent towards police on the scene.
His defense attorneys acknowledged that he had been drinking, but said there was no evidence Higgins was actually behind the wheel while drunk.
But, a witness to the prosecution testified Monday that he saw Higgins hit a curb with his car the night of his arrest at 12th Street and Mountain Road in northeast Albuquerque.
