ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - A Bernalillo County grand jury has indicted 10 members of a gang called the "Memphis Mob" on racketeering and other charges.
District Attorney Kari Brandenburg said Friday the indictments are associated with the gang's alleged efforts to import their drug trafficking and violent criminal enterprise to Albuquerque from the Memphis, Tenn., area.
Indicted on one count each of racketeering and conspiracy to commit racketeering were Russell Rankin,28, Bret Williams, 27, Robert Chambers, 29, William Macklin, 22, Victor Nelson,46, Willie Rankin, 25, Decarrio Richardson, 24, Antonio Wilson, 24, Mark Bradford, 30, and Monta Clayborn, 31.
Albuquerque Police Chief Ray Schultz said in April the gang began moving into Albuquerque three years ago to set up a cocaine-trafficking network.
