CARLSBAD, N.M. (KRQE-KBIM) - A man who escaped from a juvenile detention facility on Sunday in Springer, N.M., has turned himself in, according to the Eddy County Sheriff's Department.
Anthony Herrera, 18, will face a misdemeanor escape charge.
Eddy County deputies said Herrera, accompanied by his father, turned himself in to deputies in Carlsbad about 6:40 p.m. Thursday.
He's being held in Eddy County as officials work to arrange his return to Springer.
It's not yet clear where Herrera stayed during his days on the lam.
He had been serving a sentence for attempting to kill a teenager in an Artesia home in 2006.
