LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) - When a judge called the case of Raymond Angel, two men stood up - Angel and the man authorities allege stole his identity.

Authorities say Juan Estrada, using Angel's name, filed a motion in magistrate court and was told to come to a hearing Monday. The court later mailed a subpoena to an address on file - that of the real Angel.

After the case was called, both men ended up presenting their identification to the judge. They had the same name and birth date but different addresses and photos.

The court called Dona Ana County sheriff's deputies, who say Estrada admitted he was using Angel's identification.

He was charged with forgery and identity theft.

Authorities say he's been using Angel's name since about 1997.
