ALBUQUERQUE (AP) - A judge has tossed charges against six alleged prostitutes because of a lack of evidence.
Albuquerque police used the Web site Craigslist to contact the women. But when it came time for the bust, police used an informant instead of an undercover officer to make the deal.
Albuquerque police say they used an informant because pimps and prostitutes can spot undercover police and because it's more difficult to make a deal to pay for sex.
Afterward, police arrested the Denver crew along with their alleged pimp.
But because the informant witnessed the deal instead of an officer, the judge tossed the case because there wasn't enough evidence to charge them with prostitution.
Police kept their alleged pimp locked up. Timothy Lee is being charged with promoting prostitution and child abuse because he had a 3-year-old child with him.
