LOS LUNAS, N.M. (KRQE) - Thieves made sure they got all the high-priced electronic items on their list and more including guns when they ransacked a Walmart that was closed for Christmas.
"They were able to load three shopping carts worth of computer equipment, laptops, mp3 players, some rifles which is pretty disturbing," said Los Lunas Police Chief Roy Melnik.
The crooks took advantage of Walmart's Christmas Day closure.
Chief Melnik said the group of three broke in around 2 a.m. but he would not say how exactly.
"They gained entry with the use of burglary tools and once inside they were hooded with dark clothing covering their faces," The Chief said.
The trio worked quickly, smashing glass cabinets and cutting cables attached to the guns.
In all police said they got away with about $30,000 in loot but they don't think they will get away with this heist for long.
"With all the cameras and technology that's available today we're going to have the license plate, we're going to have their faces," said Melnik.
According to Los Lunas Police the three loaded up the stolen goods into a white SUV which makes detectives believe at least one other person was involved.
They are hoping the cameras picked up the license plate.
