Crash backup extended to West Side

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - An undercover police officer was among seven drivers involved in a pileup the blocked lanes on Interstate 40 but resulted in no injuries.

The crash occurred at 12th Street NW shortly after 8 a.m. and closed all but one of the eastbound lanes. Albuquerque Fire Department responders extricated a person trapped in one of the vehicles, but that person was said to be uninjured.

Meanwhile traffic was reported to be backed up across the Rio Grande to Coors Boulevard NW. More lanes opened as the wreckage was cleared.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
