ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - She doesn't look like a hard criminal, but detectives arrested cheerleading manager D’Andrea Davis Thursday, and they say she knew she was breaking the law when she stole money meant for the St. Pius cheerleading squad, and used it for herself.
Davis has volunteered with the team for 10 years. For the past two police say she's been pocketing checks made out to the team. Cops say Davis was actually depositing the money in this now defunct business she owned, Champion Cheer.
Cops say Davis confessed to the whole scheme. Investigators say she had taken money meant to buy uniforms, had over charged the teens and their parents on gym fees, and had even taken the haul the girls' brought in from winter ball; the team's fundraiser.
Police say Davis' accounts show she cashed more than 10 grand in checks that were meant to go to the cheerleaders, but a school audit shows there's 18 grand missing from the cheerleading fund.
Davis posted a $500 bond to get out of jail.
