ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Albuquerque police are waiting on autopsy results before deciding what to do next in the case of a 3 year-old boy who died Sunday inside his home.
Police were called to the scene around 12:30 p.m. Sunday, near Candelaria and Chelwood Park northeast, after a 911 call from the family reporting the child was unresponsive.
Officers and firefighters tried to revive the child once they arrived, but they were unsuccessful.
Investigators with APD's Crimes Against Children unit then taped up the scene and started asking questions.
A neighbor says the boy's family appeared to be very upset.
“you can tell people were upset, the grandson was in tears, prior to everyone showing up, he was standing by the gate smoking a cigarette just balling and one of his friends was just holding him, giving him comfort it looked like,” Jamie Elias said.
Police are not saying if the child's death appears suspicious.
No one has been arrested.
