ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Police are looking for the burglar responsible for a rash of early morning car break-ins in northeast Albuquerque.
The thief mainly targeted cars with a feature many people use to hide their valuables, tinted windows.
Police found at least six cars with busted out windows along Prairie Road just north of Louisiana and Montgomery. Many residents say this is not how they wanted to spend the last day of their holiday weekend.
"I was kind of disappointed. I thought I was going to have a nice Labor Day weekend," Mbarak Hussein, who's niece's car was broken into said. "It's sad. They went through the whole neighborhood busting windows, and technically there's not much in the cars and now there's an added expense on us."
Residents said nothing major was taken. One car was missing a radio, others some loose cash and some tools were plucked.
One woman in the area says she saw a suspicious man peeking into cars just after 4 a.m. Monday. She says he was in his late 20s to early 30s, was riding a bicycle and carrying a backpack.
Investigators dusted for fingerprints and collected evidence at each the scenes. They say the reason thieves target tinted windows is because the film holds the glass together and creates less noise.
