EL PASO (KRQE) - Border patrol agents seized 232 pounds of marijuana in a duffle bags Monday from car that was loaded near mile marker 124 on New Mexico Highway 9.

Agents said they saw several people loading what looked like backpacks into a vehicle after following several footprints.

They then tried to pull the car over but it refused to stop, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

Agents deflated the tires of the car and then a man jumped out and tried to flee on foot.

The U.S. Customs and Border Protection Agency said they were able to apprehend the driver and identified him as a 25-year-old Mexican citizen.

Inside the car was 232 pound of marijuana, valued at more than $185,600.
