ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - The daughter of a woman whose body was found in a South Valley ditch reported her missing about a week ago, according to police records.
Debbie Arlene Martinez, 47, was wearing only a t-shirt, bra and one shoe when crews cleaning out an irrigation ditch near 2nd and Bravo found her body Thursday morning.
Sgt. Mark Kmatz with the Bernalillo County Sheriff's Office said there were no obvious signs of trauma. They first thought she had been dead for two to five days, but now believe she has been dead for longer.
Kmatz said if she had any bruising they may not be able to tell because the body had decomposed. He said the Office of the Medical Investigator performed a rape test, but the results are pending.
Her daughter last heard from Martinez about two weeks ago when she told police Martinez sent her a text that she "was crying." Her daughter said that she was last seen at the Albuquerque Rescue Mission with a man, and had been released from jail that day.
Investigators said they're relying on someone to come forward.
"There's going to be somebody who was the last person to see her and that person is going to have the majority of the answers and that's who we'd really like to find," said Kmatz.
He said Martinez lived with her boyfriend. They're trying to track him down to see if he can help with the investigation.
