BELEN, N.M. (KRQE) - Belen police are investigating the slaughter of about two dozen
wild geese that were found scattered on a roadway Thursday night.
The geese were first reported along a one-mile stretch of
Camino del Llano Road just west of I-25
Late Friday night, Belen Police confirmed that several juveniles
admitted to being involved in the incident during questioning.
Police are not releasing other details about the extent of
their involvement and why the geese were killed.
Belen Animal Control spent Friday afternoon cleaning up the
remains.
Local residents said they're appalled.
"Whoever they are, they are just evil," local resident Jackie
Steinbicker said. "These are just beautiful birds."
