ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Sheriff's investigators said a horrific case of domestic violence played out in the streets of Albuquerque Saturday night when a man viciously beat his girlfriend and tossed her out of a moving car.
Jorge Armendariz is in jail accused of aggravated battery on a household member, a third-degree felony.
During his first appearance in court on Sunday he spoke only when addressed.
According to the criminal complaint, Armendariz severely beat his girlfriend after drinking at a friend's house.
He told police his girlfriend got jealous when she learned he was talking to other women on MySpace. That's when the alleged abuse began.
The victim said he pushed her out of a moving truck on Rio Bravo near the railroad tracks. The victim was knocked unconscious and the truck was going 40 mph, according to the victim.
She was eventually treated for numerous injuries at Presbyterian Hospital.
Armendariz was arrested after a short pursuit that began after he reportedly tried to beat the victim again.
Judge Briana Zamora held his bond at $150,000 cash or surety on Sunday. She also warned him not to have any contact with the victim.
Armendariz denies he hit his girlfriend or threw her out of the car.
However, the sheriff's deputy who transported him told investigators she heard him say he would kill his girlfriend.
