Bank robbers strike twice in 40 minutes

FBI looks for connection between two heists

ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Albuquerque police and the FBI are investigating two bank robberies that happened between 9 and 10 a.m. Thursday.

It is not yet known if the heists are related, the FBI said.

The first robbery occurred about 9:05 a.m. at the Bank of the West branch at 5401 Gibson Blvd. SE; the second around 9:45 a.m. at First Community Bank at 1418 Carlisle NE.

In the second robbery witnesses described the robbery as an Anglo man about 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighing about 180 pounds with gray hair with touches of brown and sporting a mustache.

He is believed to be driving a silver Chevrolet Cavalier.

Anyone with information on either robbery can contact the Albuquerque FBI office 24 hours a day at (505) 889-1300 or call Albuquerque Metro Crime Stoppers at 843-STOP (843-7867).

A reward of up to $1,000 is being offered for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
