RIO RANCHO, N.M. (KRQE) - Early on July 10, Rio Rancho police and fire departments responded to a fire at Sugar Park. They found a large piece of playground equipment that was set on fire. This is not the first time arson hit this park.
In 2005, about $23,000-worth of damage was caused by an arson. In 2007, $20,000-worth of damage was done.
This damage is estimated at $30,000.
Police do not have any suspects at this time and are asking the public for help. The loss of the playground equipment is described as "devastating" by police.
"[This] prevents children from playing in and enjoying our parks," said John M. Francis with the Rio Rancho police department.
