ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - An Albuquerque police sergeant has resigned from the department following a domestic violence arrest in Rio Rancho.
Sergeant Patrick Ficke, 33, is a former spokesperson for APD.
He is now facing charges of false imprisonment, child abuse and battery against a household member.
Ficke's wife says the two started arguing at their home Sunday after he showed up drunk and claimed he had to go in to work.
According to the criminal complaint, he got physical, hitting his wife with his cell phone, squeezing the back of her neck and pulling her hair, all with the couple's kids inside the house.
After hearing her story, investigators issued a warrant for Ficke's arrest.
“At about noon this afternoon Mr. Ficke came into the Rio Rancho Police Department and was taken into custody without incident,” Sgt. Nicholas Onken said.
Ficke's wife also claims he would not let her leave the house.
She called police from a Walgreens, after he passed out on the bed.
APD said Sunday that Ficke has resigned from the department.
He had been with the department since 2003.
