ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - The Albuquerque Police Department will have eyes all over the city looking for crooks this holiday shopping season.
On Wednesday APD revealed some details of how uniformed and undercover officers will be trying to catch thieves in the act.
Part of the plan includes having more bait cars out than ever before. Those cars are rigged with cameras and remote shutdowns officers use to deter car thefts or stop and hold suspects.
And they'll be watching from above. Officers will be atop aerial platforms to watch parking lots, patrolling from a helicopter and looking for crooks from rooftops.
The big holiday operation starts Friday and runs through Christmas.
