ALBUQUERQUE - Albuquerque Police say a jealous 37-year old man is behind bars for the double murder of his ex-girlfriend and her new boyfriend.

Ralph Montoya turned himself into Albuquerque attorney Lauren Oliveros who surrendered him to police on Monday. Montoya told Oliveros and police that the bodies of two people would be found in a home in the 2700 block of Santa Monica Avenue SE.

When police went to perform a welfare check, they found the home had been broken into . Upon entry, they discovered the bodies of a man and woman shot dead lying in a pool of blood.

Montoya has been charged with the murders of both victims. He is being held on $250,000 cash only bond. Montoya also has a lengthy criminal background which included charges of aggravated burglary, aggravated assault, and domestic violence

Police are withholding the names of the victims until relatives can be contacted.
