SANTA FE (KRQE) - Police say a teen has been arrested after he used a kitchen knife to stab his mom just because he did not want to do his chores, but he didn't stop there.

The 14-year-old is accused of attacking his brothers and sisters and running from police for more than an hour.

The mom told police she was scared for her life and worried her son might hurt her four other young children.

“He was requested to clean his room he started having a fit she began to take some of his electronic devices away from him he began to damage some of those devices he then stabbed his mother in the rear of her left leg,” Captain Aric Wheeler said.

His mom had to get a couple of stitches in the back of the leg, but will be fine.

The incident happened at the family home in Santa Fe Saturday.

Police say mom started taking away the teen's electronics after repeatedly asking him to pick up his room.

When she grabbed the TV he allegedly attacked.

Police say the teen lunged at his mom, cursing and swinging the knife, telling her to put the TV down.

She corralled her other kids into an SUV and her son allegedly then threw a rock at the windshield as she called police.

Police say he also threatened to kill his 1-year-old little brother if his mom did not hang up the phone.

They say this goes way beyond a simple fight.

“Usually children this age aren't incarcerated but because of the extreme nature and violence of the circumstances juvenile probation has authorized incarceration so he will face a children's court judge,” Captain Wheeler said.

The teen faces aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, battery and criminal damage charges.

The other children, whose ages are from 1-years-old to 10-years-old, were not hurt.

The son was caught about a 100 yards away from the family home.

Police did not release any names.

They say the family has a history with CYFD but would not elaborate.
