SANTA FE (KRQE) - A Santa Fe policeman has quit rather than being fired after allegedly beating up his wife.
Santa Fe police say an internal investigation into Officer Jon Lopez recommended that he should be fired.
Lopez was arrested in June for battery he's pled not guilty.
On the force for three years, Lopez’s arrest came just days after the department started a "zero-tolerance" policy.
That allows the chief to fire officers if they are convicted of a violent crime.
