ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - The former cop suspected in two armed robberies is still in the hospital in critical condition Sunday.
Officials say he's also being looked at for crimes in another state.
This week police issued a warrant for 43-year-old George Smith, saying he's the man in a surveillance video holding up a Santa Fe pharmacy Monday.
He's accused of a second robbery on Tuesday in the county, where he took 500 pills.
Sunday, police found an unconscious Smith at an Albuquerque hotel, believed to have overdosed.
Santa Fe police say the former South Carolina sheriff's deputy is now the radar of lawmen from that area.
"Law enforcement agencies in sc are looking into robberies they have a similar method of being robbed,” Lt. Luis Carlos said.
Smith also worked for Rio Arriba sheriff's office for a month before asked to resign.
He's the husband of a Santa Fe prosecutor.
