CARNUEL, N.M (KRQE) - The westbound lanes of Interstate 40 remained closed late Wednesday night after a wrong-way driver slammed head-on into another vehicle in Tijeras Canyon just east of Albuquerque.

The drivers of both vehicles died in the crash.

The driver of the wrong-way vehicle was identified Thursday as Katherine Cullen, 56, of Santa Fe, and the driver of the other vehicle was identified as Judith Bjorkman, 56, of Edgewood.

Bjorkman's 2-year-old grandchild was transported to the Univeristy of New Mexico Hospital.

The collision occurred about 8:15 p.m. Wednesday east of the Carnuel exit.

Sheriff's investigators had yet to determine where the wrong-way driver got on the freeway.
