ALBUQUERQUE (KRQE) - Casslyn Welch, the woman who helped three inmates escape from an Arizona prison in 2010, was arraigned in New Mexico Federal Court on Monday.
Welch pleaded not guilty to federal carjacking and murder charges for the deaths of Oklahoma couple Gary and Linda Haas.
Welch was transported to New Mexico from custody in Arizona where she pleaded guilty last Friday to second degree escape and two counts of armed robbery.
Welch is accused of helping John McCluskey, Tracy Province and another man escape from an Arizona prison last August. From there, authorities say, Welch, her fiance and cousin McCluskey and Province were traveling through New Mexico when they kidnapped the Haas couple in Santa Rosa and stole their truck.
Authorities say that McCluskey then shot and killed the Haases and burned their bodies in their camper. All three fugitives were eventually captured.
Province is being held in New Mexico. He pleaded not guilty in February to the federal charges he's facing.
McCluskey remains jailed in Arizona on state charges. He still faces federal charges in New Mexico.
Welch is eligible for the death penalty in several of the counts here in New Mexico. The judge in Arizona says she would face 20 years in connection to the escape but he'll sentence her after the murder trial is over in New Mexico.
