RIO RANCHO, N.M. (KRQE) - Rio Rancho police have released the recording of a 911 call made back in May 2009 that gives a glimpse into the domestic turmoil between Emcore officer shooter Robert Reza and his girlfriend, Adrienne Basciano.

Reza and Basciano were living together at the time raising the couple's twin boys in Rio Rancho. Reza called police because Basciano was kicking him out. He admitted he had guns, but claimed it wasn't "an issue."

"She's trying to throw me out of the house and I don't want to leave my kids here," Reza said to the 911 dispatcher.

The 911 call, placed at 10 p.m. of May 3, 2009, does not indicate what the argument was about. However, it is clear that the couple's twin boys were in the house. The following exchange can be heard on the 911 recording:

ROBERT REZA: "I won't leave my kids here."
ADRIENNE BASCIANO: "You're not taking my kids out of the house."
ROBERT REZA: "Let's let the police decide it."

At the time of the 911 call, Reza was on medical leave from Emcore. He quit a couple of months later for medical reasons. Police haven't said if those medical reasons were mental health issues. Dispatch kept Reza on the phone for 12 minutes as the two continued to argue. The dispatcher asked if there were guns in the home.

"They're upstairs underneath the bed underneath a lot of other stuff," said Reza. "It's not an issue."

Police have not said where Reza got the gun he used in Monday's shooting spree at Emcore.
